THE IDEAL SOLUTION FOR WAREHOUSE SHEDS
Make the smart choice for your property. Choose a SmartShelters warehouse shed.
Warehousing is an important aspect of many commercial and agricultural enterprises. The main aim of warehousing is to ensure that assets are safe, whether they are product, material, machinery or feed. This makes the choice of the warehouse – the structure that will protect those assets – absolutely critical.
What is a warehouse shed?
A warehouse shed is an umbrella term that describes any structure designed to house assets, be they raw materials or manufactured goods. Warehouse sheds are designed in a way that maximises the efficiency of handling the assets held within, as large amounts of goods and materials will need to be unloaded, stored, accessed and dispatched.
Warehouse sheds generally have large access points to allow goods to easily flow in and out, and may feature internal configurations for the efficient storage of materials. They are most commonly built as simple steel constructions on concrete bases.
But at SmartShelters we know that the most common way of doing things isn’t necessarily the best…
SmartShelters fabric warehouse sheds represent an entirely new type of storage facility. Mounted on poles or containers, our sheds feature a steel span covered with lightweight, super strong membrane structure fabric which protects your assets from the elements while also letting air and natural light in.
While being lightweight, quick to construct and semi-portable, SmartShelters warehouse sheds are built to last. They offer the best of both worlds: the strength and longevity of a traditional warehouse, but with the flexibility usually seen in something far more temporary.
What can you store in a warehouse shed?
Warehousing can mean different things to different organisations:
- A commercial enterprise might warehouse manufactured products for sale.
- An engineering business might warehouse raw materials to use in manufacturing.
- A farmer might warehouse feed, seed, crops or farm equipment.
A custom-designed SmartShelters warehouse shed can be built to handle your warehousing needs, whatever they may be.

Design and materials
While traditional warehouse sheds certainly provide your assets with protection, the materials used in SmartShelters sheds will do the job equally well, and in many ways far better.
- Steel frame: We use structural-grade Supergal galvanised steel in all of our shelters. This not only enables fast construction, but also ensures that your warehouse shed stays strong in the long run.
- Membrane structure fabric: The super strength Ripstop roof covers of SmartShelters warehouse sheds are designed to stay strong in the harshest conditions. Our covers have high wind, high rain and high snow ratings, and come with a 12 year warranty, although you can expect them to last for 15 years or more in all but the most extreme conditions – our case study of a 14 year old composting shelter is just one example of the fabric’s longevity.

Warehouse shed cost
There are a number of factors that will influence the price of a warehouse shed, including:
- Width, length, height and overall square metreage
- Width in relation to length (on a square metre basis, a short and wide structure is less efficient to build than a long and wide structure)
- The application of the design
- The importance of the structure
- Location factors that will affect the design (e.g. altitude, snow loading and wind ratings)
- Ground conditions that will influence the design of the foundation
- The site location (the more easily accessible the site, the lower the cost of construction)
- The configuration of options (e.g. end walls, doors, side eaves, guttering, etc.)
