We use only the highest quality components to ensure that your shelter stands up to the conditions. SmartShelters structures are engineered to AS/NZS 1170.2:2011 and are rated to withstand wind and snow conditions. By using structural-grade Supergal galvanised steel framing and tough Ripstop roof covers we have built up a reputation for extremely high quality and long-lasting structures.

    Where is the fabric made?

    SmartShelters’ fabric coverings come out of Canada, where they have passed the most demanding certification standards, including:

    • California Fire Marshal (Listed)
    • ASTM E84 (Class 1)

    • CAN/ULC S-109 (Large and Small Scale)

    Having utilised the coverings for two decades, we know that they are more than up to the unique, and often extreme, conditions served up by the New Zealand climate.

    What is GSM?

    ‘GSM’ is an acronym for ‘grams per square metre’, a method of measuring the weight of fabric. It’s important to note that weight doesn’t necessarily mean strength – our PE-coated fabric is incredibly strong while simultaneously managing to achieve a low GSM. This maximises the amount of natural light available in our shelters, while keeping harsher weather like wind, rain and snow out.

    What GSM is the fabric?

    Our fabric coverings are 407gsm, although as mentioned above, the weight of the fabric matters far less than its strength to weight ratio, which is where our membrane structure fabric sets itself apart.

    Is the fabric UV stabilised?

    Yes, SmartShelters’ membrane structure fabric offers long-life UV resistance. It is designed to cope with the harshest conditions imaginable, whether 365 days of unrelenting sun, or months of high volume snowfall. And there’s no need to take us on our word, as all of our shelters come with a comprehensive 12 year warranty, giving you ultimate peace of mind.
